OM NAMAH SHIVAY !!

Om Try-Ambakam Yajaamahe, Sugandhim Pusstti-Vardhanam , Urvaarukam-Iva Bandhanaan ,Mrtyor-Mukssiiya Maa-mrtaat !!

This verse has been beautifully translated by Jamison & Brereton

“We sacrifice to Tryambaka the fragrant, increaser of prosperity.
Like a cucumber from its stem, might I be freed from death, not from deathlessness.”

The Lord Shiva known as Sada Shiv, I have been an ardent devotee of the Lord with the belief that the Lord will be with me throughout my journey for my Mental, emotional and physical health which I consider it to be Moksha, through the chanting of the Lord which denotes longevity and immortality.

For the first time in my life although I have been a worshipper of the Lord with full faith and devotion. I came to know about Shiv Navratri while having a candid conversation with the Pujari Ashish Sharma from Mahakal Temple, Ujjain.

The Shiv Navratri  came to me as a surprise as to me how long could I be ignorant about the Lord’s most beautiful part. This different nine versions which includes Uma Mahesh, Chandramouleshwar, Mana Mahesh and The Lord Shiva. This unique tradition which is associated with Maha Mrityunjay found nowhere else in the world.

During these nine days of the Lord, the first day starts with the worship of Lord Chandramouleshwar and finally towards the end the Lord is made the bridegroom where he is decorated with fruits, canabis etc.

While following the rituals for marriage, bathing is done by applying sandalwood, turmeric which is followed in all traditions of a marriage  ceremony where the groom gets ready to marry to the beautiful bride.

Navratri in Sanskrit, where “Nava” means Nine and “Ratri” means night and during these nine days where Lord Shiva was trying to evade marriage to Maa Parvati in various forms but after a lot of persuasion  by Devtaas and Maa Parvati he finally gave up his “Jogi” form and appeared in “Mohini” roop in which Parvati’s mother got awestruck and finally marriage. It a celebration in Mahakal with great pomp and fervour.

Mahakal Temple in Ujjain is the only temple where nine days Shiv Navratri is observed before Maha Shivratri. A belief has been flowing through ages if you worship Lord during these 9 days, you get blessing from the Lord for your life& with this belief festival of Shiv Navratri is considered to be great importance to all Devotees.

“ Har Har Mahadev”

Let the blessings of the Lord prevail upon us all.
