Riniki Bhuyan Sharma was born in Guwahati to one of Assam’s pioneering industrialist families. Her father, Late Jadav Chandra Bhuyan, was a leading Industrialist of Northeast India.
After her post graduation in Political Science from Cotton College Guwahati, a top ranking educational institute of the region, she completed her LLB Graduation from Govt. Law College in Guwahati. She is currently enrolled in the Bar Council of India.
She started her entrepreneurial journey while she was still in college under the able stewardship of her late industrialist father.
With entrepreneurship in her genes, it wasn’t long before she forayed into the world of business by setting up her own media company, Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd, the largest media company in northeast India.
She set up Assam’s first flagship news channel Newslive, which has consistently maintained its no. 1 position all through the years.
Riniki Bhuyan Sharma’s philanthropy touches many lives. From Sneha Bandhan, a home away from home for young orphaned / abandoned children under the Kailash Nath Sarma Trust.
Udayachal, a school with professionally trained teachers for specially abled children, under the Jadhav Chandra Memorial trust.
Ramdhenu, a music channel, and the first of its kind in northeast India was launched.
Niyomiya Barta, a regional daily newspaper was started
Preserving Assam’s royal silk, Muga, from extinction and at the same time empowering the women associated with weaving this indigenous thread is something close to her heart. She achieves this through the platform “The Golden Threads of Assam” ………socially empowering the women weavers and at the same time showcasing this precious silk to the global audience.
Aadya, a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit was set up in her late father’s industrial shed, established way back in 1950, with an eye towards celebrating womanhood by educating women on menstrual health and hygiene and breaking the myths and taboos associated with it.
North East Live, an English and Hindi channel, another first, was launched .
Aaina, an Assamese lifestyle magazine, the first of its kind, was started.
Apart from media, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma is also a producer of quality Assam tea and is presently working on a business model to seamlessly merge tea and tourism in an appealing and comprehensive way for the discerning audience.
In 2022, she is planning to venture into the education sector by setting up a new school of International repute with a focus on holistic education to meet the demands of the future.
